What are Hives?

Hives (clinically referred to as urticaria, pronounced: ur'ti-kar'ee-uh) consist of red, itchy, swollen areas of the skin that appear in differing shapes, sizes, and clusters.  An outbreak usually emerges suddenly and can last from a few minutes or hours, to a few days or even weeks.

Twenty percent of the population has suffered from hives at least once in their lives.  In the case of stress-related hives, they often manifest as blotchy red patches on the arms, chest, neck, or face.

For more information on this topic, read What Are Hives?

What Causes Hives?

Hives appear on the skin as a result of the body's cells releasing the chemical histamine into the bloodstream in response to medication, food, heat, an insect bite, or emotional stress.  Histamine causes fluid to leak from local blood vessels, which results in swelling and rash-like symptoms in the skin.

Although hives can be caused by an allergic reaction (to a particular food or medication), the most common type is not directly attributed to a specific allergy, and the particular cause is actually not known.  These cases are referred to as idiopathic uticaria, which is elicited when the body is either exposed to a triggering factor such as hot water, or when the body senses the triggering factor of stress, anxiety, or anger.

What Causes Stress-Related or Emotional Hives?

Visit any web site about hives, or read any medical study or article about the varying types of urticaria and you will surely see references to the causal role that stress or anxiety has in triggering, intensifying, or elongating an outbreak of hives.  Although every article or product web site will mention stress, until now no remedies actually target diminishing the agents released in the body when we feel stress, whether over-the-counter, physician prescribed, or supplement.

Hivecten is the only product that goes to the root cause
to treat stress-related hives!

Why Do I Break Out in Stress-Related Hives?

Research over the recent decades has uncovered a clear connection between stress and disease, both physicians and psychologists agree that there is indeed a physiological response to a wide variety of stressors.  When the body detects stress, the sympathetic nervous system is activated, which mobilizes the body's defenses through the "fight or flight" response.

Your body's "fight or flight" instincts automatically activate the opening of blood vessels and the resulting redness or blotchiness of the skin at the moment your brain senses a stressful situation.  This involuntary bodily reaction makes it impossible for you to control.  Stress-related hives are common in people who experience extreme anxiety in performance or social situations.  However, some people are prone to break-outs even during casual conversations with friends.

What are the Symptoms and Signs of Stress-Related Hives?

A symptom is a sensation experienced by the individual patient that consists of a change from normal function.  The symptoms of stress-related hives include:

  • Overwhelming feelings of stress, nervousness, anxiety, or even embarrassment.
  • Avoiding potential triggers such as public speaking, meeting new people, or even making direct eye contact.

A sign is objective evidence of a condition or disease, which is evident to the patient, doctor, nurse, and other observers.  The signs of stress-related hives include:

  • Redness
  • Blotchiness
  • Itchiness
  • An intense sensation of heat in the arms, chest, neck, or face region

What are Some Results of Stress-Related Hives?

Once stress-related hives appear on your skin, the frustrating cycle is set in motion because the anxiety you feel about the hives themselves often intensifies the redness and itching.  Because breaking out in hives is often misinterpreted as a sign of nervousness, incompetence, embarrassment, or sickness, your professional aspirations or social confidence may be negatively impacted.  The blotches and itchiness can be emotionally and physically unbearable!  The results include more than physical discomfort (which is bad enough), but may also include your damaged social appearance or professional performance.

Understandably, then, people who regularly suffer from stress-related hives often experience a heightened self-consciousness combined with a lower self-esteem.  If you struggle with stress-related hives, you know the condition is never far from your mind, making it difficult for you to confidently take on life's challenges, whether big or small.  The results may be devastating either personally or professionally.

Treating Stress-Related Hives

There are many treatments available to reduce the symptoms of hives. However, the key to long-term success in symptom management is identifying stress as the likely source and making the necessary lifestyle adjustments to improve the body's hormonal balance.

Most treatments available today, whether prescription drugs or over-the-counter remedies, only provide temporary relief of the symptoms, not the cause of, of the hives. Because it addresses the root of your stress-related hives problem, Hivecten successfully helps defend you on the inside from the visible symptoms on the outside that are caused by the many stresses of your, hectic daily life.

This is why satisfied Hivecten users can't say enough about the product and how liberating it is for them to regain their self-confidence once again! For more information about this topic, read How to Treat & Get Rid Of Stress-Related Hives.

This Hivecten customer says it all: "I simply can't believe the new confidence I have when entering any situation, whether work-related or with friends!  For me, not to have the constant stress on my mind that I might break out in hives truly makes Hivecten a life-saver!"
